Hello everyone, I've finally dropped in for the first time in a few weeks. The creative impulse has been pretty laid back lately, but has been slowly returning as of the last few days. So, I figured that this'd be the perfect time to give a few updates! I'll try to ramp up to the most exciting points by the end, and hopefully avoid writing over 9000 words.
1) Harbinger is inevitably delayed
-Whenever you're working with an extroverted idealist or artisan, the one thing I can guarantee you is that you're NEVER going to get anything done. You can start a thousand projects, but all you'll have after that is the realization you're out of room on the shelf..
So in true Borg fashion, I have adapted to this recently discovered behavioral pattern and decided to equally not give a shit about what happens to this song. Since it was only partially my idea, that's fine by me. I did my part, so if I ever get the help I need to make it complete (vocals) then I will upload the finished product. Read: I won't.
If you've followed along with my posts over the years (much to my surprise if you have), you'll have noticed this type of occurrence a few times in the past - this is nothing new for me. Do it yourself if you want to get it done as they say.
2) Progress on the album!
*Not the type of "great" you heard on a shitty Metallica cover I did a few years ago. I am aiming for professional quality.
3) And now our feature presentation - GARDEN OF THE TEMPEST 2015
The main riff was written in the presence of a (friend?) I asked to help write a new type of song. I quickly realized this was just like all of my projects - something I need my hands on and no-one else's. I'm the type of artisan who has a very specific vision and arrangement, and said vision cannot be fucked with. That having been said, when another person fails to help contribute, they fucking failed to help contribute. However, the companionship did help spawn the most important piece of the song, and I'm very happy about that. Another artisan trait there - I absorb the atmosphere and energy of the surroundings (including people) and can either become more creative (or otherwise useful) or less depending on them. You might say I'm one of the most codependent personality types. Now there's a word that scares dumb people! You would be half wrong since I am split between two types, so fuck you and your labels.
Anyway, as much as I love this song, I realized its mix wasn't that great, and this feeling became exaggerated as I created newer, better mixes over the last year 'n' some change. I've thought about remixing it many many times, and attempted it twice. I'll let you guess what happened to those aptly named 'attempts'.
The thought never left though, and so I figured I'd find some time in between working on the album to work on a good remaster that helps the song age far better. Well, I have done just that. It's much richer, wider, deeper (thicker, among other things I'm sure) and the only thing I can really nitpick is the frequency disruption on cymbal crashes. I can't do anything about that though, and most of you have no fucking clue what I'm even talking about.
Fast forward to today. I thought hey, this will help tide over the regular listeners while they wait for the new album, too! So the timing was definitely good on this one. Hopefully you'll enjoy it as much as I did. I took an ear break and came back in to compare to the old version from July 2014, and got that stupid ass grin on my face that naturally, unequivocally indicates I've done something right.
Anyway, the new Garden of the Tempest 2015 Remaster has been uploaded to Youtube and it'll be more listenable now when placed up against the newer shit. Which is good because I think GotT is one of my best songs, not to mention I will probably never attempt to write something that complicated (for me) again. So it's a good thing that it actually sounds like it, right?

As an aside, some of those songs are very......primitive.......by my 2015 standards. However, that being said there are still greats such as Zodiac, Reaper's Lullaby and One Life for All, it's just that most of them have good and not so good bits mixed together. It was the first time I had ever seriously attempted writing music. Much has changed in two years.
At any rate if you like those songs and - like me - wished they'd been mixed better to match their potential scope, then you'll want to head over to my channel and check out the new video. I thought that uploading them as one file would be better so as not to cannibalize everything else because in my opinion this isn't exactly worth it. For those who want it, it's there, and my own conscience has now been cleared (hopefully!).

March 26, 2015 - WotLK rambling, etc.
As much as I love the original game and the Burning Crusade expansion, I think I felt most at home - personally - in Wrath of the Lich King. The music spoke to me a lot, and each new zone felt like a place I'd remember forever, as dumb as that sounds. The music stores a lot of memories within for me. For an unrelated example, I always think of Metallica's 'Load' album when playing Diablo II, and Opeth's 'Damnation' album when playing Path of Exile because that's the listening phase I was in at the time. I love how our minds create their own perspectives and memories like that.
One thing I'd like to say, both of the albums I just mentioned are very good. 'Load' is a great blues-influenced experimental rock album, with some interesting new structures at times for the band. And no matter what ANYONE says, none of the tracks are filler. They're butthurt thrash metal fans who believe there is only one viable genre of music. They will never be happy with anything under 200 beats a minute so their opinions don't matter.
As for 'Damnation', I've heard it described as "beautiful darkness" and I thought, "THAT'S IT!", that's truly what the whole album reminds me of now! If you like Edgar Allan Poe-esque lyrics and clean electric guitars, thematic drums, bass and AWESOME acoustic guitar playing, I highly recommend you check out this album. I especially suggest listening to the track 'Closure' as it showcases everything the album's style does best. I'm not a fan of death metal or the silly growling stuff that is gimmicky as all get out, but this one album stands out for me as a true gem in the collection. It's definitely my favorite, even though the band also has some great instrumental tracks scattered through the rest of their discography. Seriously, it's really good and you can find all of it on youtube (is there anyone out there who doesn't know this by now?), it really is worth a listen.
March 23, 2015 - Emerald Euphoria Update
Today has been a great day for music. Not only do I have a rough mix of Harbinger (from yesterday and the day before) but another one too - for the first track on Emerald Euphoria!! I've basically achieved my dream sound for this album. Everything went according to plan for the first song and it sounds better than perfect. I would say it'd be hard to outdo myself moving forward, but I've got a lot of saved up energy to make this album the best of them all.
For those who don't know, I planned the idea of making this record
before I'd even started on Classica back in 2012. So it's been a long
time coming for this project. Three and a half years may not seem
like a long time to some, but many, many things have changed since then
and basically all of it has been for the better. As a very symbolic person, I think this album -
when it is finished - will be a good reminder of all that.

March 21, 2015 - HARBINGER IS BACK!
Some time ago now, I had taken some time to remaster some of the old Invention stuff from 2010-2012. My brother and I wrote about 1 1/2 albums worth of material and had lots more that wasn't scored out. The first album was entitled Hellrider, the second Invention, and there would have been a third called Bipolar. Our methods and tools for writing were stuck in the dark ages then, and we were ready to kill each other by the time we were done. If you'd witnessed the amount of time wasted using shitty programs and ridiculous processes to try and convert our sound into something more realistic, you would immediately understand how time was a constant issue and making even small changes could take multiple hours. However, the dark age has passed, and I'd say it definitely paved the way for many, many things to follow. I'd say I'm in the Castle Age (lol) now personally.
Anyway, my brother and I'd been kicking around the idea of doing a resurrection of one of our first album's tracks. For a while, this was nothing but that - just an idea. This is something I've become more and more confident about and we both feel this is the right time - for multiple reasons. While the lyrical and vocal side of things are going to lag behind the instrumental stuff - as often they do - this song, entitled Harbinger was written several years ago and it wasn't hard for me to knock all that out in a day's worth of work with the tools I'm using nowadays.
Once we got together, we also decided to change one thing: the intro. I think it may have been the best we could do at the time, but since no one ever heard the original anyway it was obvious we should improve it for a release like this. That's already done now, and while I can't tell you exactly when or how you'll hear it, I can promise that it will be good.

So onto something that doesn't suck: I found my first rare GC today! Unfortunately it was horrific (though it was base level 29 so it had POTENTIAL) but this is cool because I had gone a long time without seeing any (they're very rare) and had worried whether they actually had the ability to drop at all. This particular one was found in the Arcane Sanctuary on Nightmare.
I haven't found any of my unique items yet but that stuff
just takes patience since you're drawing about a million cards at a time
and only ONE of them MIGHT be your item. I'm just glad to see what I did actually
worked. I tried making quivers drop as magic/rare as well (since
they're effectively useless now) but I'd have to give them a table of

Anyways I did a double take on some of my Amazon buffs because they were laughably overpowered. That and a little bit of bug fixing here and there. That's about all there is to say on that front for now.
MUSIC UPDATE: I
went ahead and uploaded the Peppermint Twist cover I was going to do for Emerald
Euphoria as a shitty minute long jam. I love the melodies though and the
reason I did this is because I have a new original song that will be
taking its place, which in my opinion is more worth the slot. If you've followed any of what I've done in the past,
you'll know I have done my share of covers and medleys. I feel little
to no desire to do more. Anyway this is also kind of a sneak peak at what the
album will sound like - although this is a very rough version, rest
assured. It's just a demo that I made in like 15 minutes.
I've got some nice tech for the actual sound that I'm excited to implement, and I'm gonna take my time and bust my ass to make sure the final product is flawless, because this might be my last album.
With WotLK on the horizon there is another project that may come into the works relatively soon. No one knows about it yet and it hasn't been officially started or announced. But if it does gain some ground, you'll find out about it here over the next few months.
March 9, 2015 (Spring Cleaning)
This page has always been the center of music news, so I decided to do what makes sense by putting all of it here. As a result the Music page is now gone and I added new playlist links to my albums on the side panel. Convenient! I also changed the ambience music on this page again and updated the Awesome Section. Hey, looks like I'll have an extra page to do something with after all! I'm sure that tomorrow Webs will release a silent update that caps users' max page count to 4 just to piss me off.
Spring cleaning aside, I've been busting ass to get some new Paladin changes in on the mod. Paladins have so many useless skills it makes the other classes look like they're well designed or something. It's going to be a while before everything is viable, as there are lots of skills I just don't care about in the first place - which is the case for most people.
New in v1.07 includes several new builds for them and exciting skill changes. Firstly, Blessed Hammer no longer sucks. This means they don't spiral worthlessly out around your (casting) location anymore, and instead are used like normal missiles! What makes this missile different you might ask? It's the ONLY missile in the entire fucking game with a stun duration. This is incredibly useful and is a welcome upgrade from spamming holy bolts. Another major change for paladins is that Holy Shield got some new synergies (good ones), and Sanctuary now hits ALL types of enemies! It doesn't knockback anymore, but it's the only damaging aura with great synergies, and is intended to be the ultimate of all damaging auras. I always loved that aura so I decided to make it good.
I haven't been playing Trove hardy at all the last couple of days, but I have been trying to get my new staff approved and the mods are being bitchy about it. While waiting on one mod's reply (I'd been working on him a bit) another came in and screwed up what we were doing. So we'll see what happens, I tried to get rid of him and it seems to have worked so that's good. I made a redesign of my original staff that admittedly is better with the first (nicer) guy's help, so hopefully he'll like it enough to send it to the Devs.

So now, I've finally migrated all the Shyster's D2 stuff to the Cave! Hopefully I don't come up with any more awesome ideas that would be cool to have on this site, because I'm out of free pages. Unless you've used this "webs" designer, you have NO IDEA how bad it is. The thought of paying money for it just makes me want to vomit.
Anyway, I have been getting lots of good stuff done on the mod! There are five NEW unique items to find! Amazons and Paladins specifically got some more changes today. I also tuned Assassin a little bit. For now, the bulk of the changes I desired to make have been made! As I said, the mod finally has its own page on the website, so feel free to go on over and check it out. You can download the zip file and follow the instructions to install it pretty easily.
As for "#4", the demos are finished and some nice stuff is happening behind the scenes. It'll all be pretty secretive from here on, but the demos are showing a lot of promise for the future.

This isn't because I'm without ideas for new original content. I have lots of ideas, and one of them happens to be making a select few older songs better. As I have written previously, my plans include remaking Reaper's Lullaby. Much has changed in two years, and I have older material that still holds up that could use a facelift.
Again this isn't about making a greatest hits record - that would require having hits by any definition amongst a relevant, useful audience. No one heard the initial version of these couple of songs I have in mind anyway so I want to do them better justice and make it truly count, 100 percent.
I'm sure you've noticed I haven't mentioned which song it was I wanted to do a new take on. In the past I believe I had mentioned redoing The Sight Unseen, but it sounds ok-ish and was most appropriate for the *time* during which it was written. As an artist, I hate this decision because the opening guitar line is really good and I'll probably never forget it and wish it could be heard in a bigger, livelier setting. As a person, I'd really rather avoid bringing up that subject material again and leave it buried where it belongs - in the past. My personal needs won.
Anyway, Hopefully I won't regret it by saying, but it's One Life for All off the Collection of Life album.

Today's a release day. I haven't written anything new in months, save for... one...NEW song. It just came out of the oven and will blow out your speakers for the better. The song originally codenamed Sorrow Breaker is now live with a new title: Hall of the Dragons. As I mentioned several times before, this is the last piece of new material before the album. Also note that this will probably wrap up my 8-bit Justice collection of tracks for now, seeing as I have pushed this sound to its limits and am satisfied with the progress and timeline I have made with it.
From now until the next release date, all creative focus goes toward Emerald Euphoria.

Alright! So Shyster's D2 has been completely finished for v1.0 testing and I've gotten a group together to start playing through for balance already. So far the new changes are pretty sweet and we've been pretty much plowing through stuff. It took a lot of work, but since I got to spend a lot of time polishing it, we're in the second polishing phase - or as it is better known - the "shit didn't pan out the way you thought so get back in there and fix it" phase. Anyway, having lots of fun and that is what matters the most.
So they patched a hotfix in Trove this week and fixed everything I was whining about on the forums that was wrong with Shadow Hunter. It's so much better now and I love their dedication. Got some great deals on Raptor Berserker and an early Balefire Beast costume (GREEN!!!!!!!!), as well as trying out a new balefire phoenix mount that a fellow modder made for the game. So I have my treat and can just sit back and have fun there too. Always nice.
There's been a distinct lack of green text in the last few updates, so here we are at our next one! "Sorrow Breaker" is seeing progress. It's finally to the point where I'm about 95% sure it'll see an upload date. Before, I was being cautious because I didn't want to set off a false alarm, and now that it's showing some promise I need to come up with a better title, too. It sounds good even without any guitars put in, and while I'm unsure of what the addition of guitars will bring, it always comes down to one of two things:
1) The song becomes far better
2) The song sounds like GAR-BITCH
I'm not too worried though. I did a little demoing on the guitars back in the early stages so it should be fine.
I should also probably tell you that this is going to be the last song I release before Emerald Euphoria. The only exception is if I come up with something that just doesn't belong on the album and yet also NEEDS to be released separately, sooner than the album. It will also probably be the last Justice-themed song that I do.
I think I've said that before. Hell I might've written about all of that before, but the point is the remainder of my creativity for this year is probably going to go into the making of this album. I want it to far and beyond exceed any and all expectations, and that means having my vision focused, not divided.

Gonna write a lot again today, some cool stuff happening!
I ran into a few complications with this mod, but otherwise I've gotten some cool stuff (cool shelf) working for the Assassin now. Her new build is extremely powerful! Maybe too powerful. I'm testing Amazon at the moment to figure out if I like where she's at in terms of strength, and I think she may need a buff. As an aside, I probably won't be updating any tooltips on skills for this mod, so you'll have to find it in the patch notes themselves if you forget what has changed.
Anyway, Druids and Sorceresses are next in line, and I have some interesting plans for both of them. I'll write a little about that here:
For Druids I will be making it possible to create a build with stronger oak sages and creeper vines. Anyone who's ever played this class knows how shitty those poison vines are. Well believe me, they're going to be good by the time I'm done with them. They're going to synergize with the other two vines and do some batshit insane poison damage by the end of the game. Oh and if you get your hands on a Death's Web, it'll be even more scary. I plan on making the vines unkillable, so they will be incredibly valuable allies alongside your mercenary and anything else you choose to summon.
For Sorceresses I'm going to improve the cast speed of lightning (and chain) and improve frost nova's damage and all armor spells. The lightning change is simply to make lightning lovers a bit more viable since their damage is very RNG dependent. As for the Cold tree, I'm trying to create a new path of skill choices. I've made a nova build before, but never a frost nova build. It will be possible to use frost nova as your main spell while having tough choices between which armor type to use in combat. I'd like to create a dynamic relationship between them, and while all 3 armor types are going to get a defense buff, I will also be improving their secondary functions as well - freezing melee, cold to melee and cold to range respectively. Since frost nova is a short range spell, you might prefer to use Chilling Armor since it will do thousands of damage (going to improve projectile speed on this skill, too) to ranged monsters far away. Or, you might prefer extra insane damage to those melee close to you with Shiver Armor, or just freeze all their asses with Frozen Armor.
"Now wait, Shyster. There's one more class you haven't EVEN MENTIONED yet. What's WRONG with you? Don't you love Barbarians too? Way to discriminate, douche" I'm actually really stumped about Barbs because I'm not really a big fan of the class. I enjoy a little frenzy every now and then but it's not my forte, so it's hard to come up with what would make it more enjoyable because I don't want to play one anyway. Maybe I'll ask someone I know for some ideas.
Onto Trove now. So, they finally put in the new hats, and a shit ton of bows for the new class. I found both my hat and bow in Neon City today.
That was quite exciting.
So far I'm liking the new Shadow Hunter class! It's a very active playstyle that we didn't have before, and the sounds associated with your weapon are very satisfying. And who doesn't like shooting through walls? There's a few weird things going on in terms of bugs, but they'll hopefully get ironed out soon. This is only the first day of the patch so I really don't care too much. If it ever gets completely fixed, this class will be very rewarding to those who like to micro a LOT.
I haven't gotten to try out the new sky islands yet but wings are pretty fun, I must say. I'm itching to buy the new Balefire Beast costume when it comes out, so I can have a totally green Dracolyte! I wasted a bunch of time searching for the perfect wardrobe to match the new costume, so I'll probably post a pose of him too. I thought it was coming out today. I guess recoloring VFX is too intense for the devs and we'll have to wait a week (kidding).
In all seriousness the devs are great guys and I've talked to their main cat and he's a gamer, man. Very friendly, always responds lightning quick and is always willing to listen. They're all gamers. Hell they've played the classics, like the one I'm working on modding at the moment. They seem to chat with us on the forums as much as they play the game which - if you've ever been a designer on a game - is also quite commendable. I love these guys and hope only the best for this game in the future (aka foochoo).
Progress is rolling along with my self-titled Shyster's D2 patch. I've gotten a hold of the ropes a lot better, and introduced some pretty fun changes for fellow demon-slayers out there. My plan is more or less to implement a few new viable build options for each class - at least one. For instance, the Assassin is going to get a lot of love for her Psychic Hammer and Mind Blast skills, and the Necromancer is getting some exciting changes for Bone Spear, Bone Spirit and Iron Golem. I have changes complete and working for four of the seven classes. Barbarian, Sorceress and Druid still remain unaltered, and I'm not sure what I'll be changing about them yet. I fucking hate Druids' elemental tree, so I might try and overhaul it and make it half usable. Barbarians could use a couple more options for builds but otherwise they, like Sorceresses seem pretty good. I'll try to focus on doing a *fun* change or two for them most likely.
Maybe I'll make a Shyster's D2 page on the website in order to keep posting patch notes and a download link as they come.

I took down my rambling! These songs have grown on me quite a bit, but the ones I left off are still bad. Because when something sucks, it sucks. However I can easily say at least half the album is worth listening to. High expectations can make one rage when it's for a band they like. Now for the top 9 list. Not good enough to be top 10, but the good stuff is really good. If it's not on the list, I probably discarded it in the trash bin.

UPDATE: Breath of Life, Neoflash and Stars of the Phoenix have been remixed and are on youtube again!
Not much going on at the moment other than what I've been doing. That sounds strange to say, but hey whatever. I'll write a bit about what I HAVE been doing, I'm waiting on February 10th for the next big Trove patch. They actually chose my bow that I designed to be put in the game!! So if you ever log on Trove, you'll be able to find an item I personally made myself. That's cool as hell. They're also about to unveil Wings for flight mechanics, a new world type with sky islands and a new class - the Shadow Hunter. I'm looking forward to all of this.
I've also been working on a small mod for Diablo II. As soon as I discovered how to use a few simple tools to change things about the game I went straight to work. A year and some change back, I created a set of rules to modify the single player experience for this game and make it possible to actually find some of the rarer items (you'll never see them unless you trade online). I've been thinking about uploading it and the mod to the site for download, so we'll see what happens. It's a really fun way to play and isn't nearly as monotonous - for those like me who have burned thousands of hours playing and need something new to keep things fresh.
One of the small changes I made was allowing Fist of the Heavens to hit all targets with its secondary holy bolt damage instead of just undead! If you love that skill or let alone even have the damn game to know what I'm talking about, you've probably seen how satisfying it can be in a room of skeletons. It's a lot better with this change, trust me. I may decide to modify a few other things too here and there, but I probably won't make any huge extensive changes. My two favorite builds are Necromancers with bone magic and Paladins with Fist of the Heavens, so maybe I'll come up with something to make necros more expansive in that realm too. I never understood why Bone Spear can out damage Bone Spirit and why the hell Bone Spirit costs so damn much. So maybe I'll find a way to make both of them useful outside the very negligible reasons you would have in single player. Ultimately, I've always had a knack for finding a couple quirky character builds and sticking with them (FotH being one of them) and now I can make such builds more viable and fun! I've been around the block when it comes to game design for RTS and RPG so I'm stoked.
Anyway, one of these days, I'll be satisfied with my list of rules and the mod itself, and I may consider uploading what I call Shyster's D2 to the website for anyone to download, which will give you all the information and resources you need to get started.
One more before Emerald Euphoria: "Sorrow Breaker" -- unless it never sees the light of day either. I've struggled to write anything at all and if you're not an artist (Hi there thinkers!) you probably just think "lol just do the formula and it'll work every time, stop being a whiny bitch!" I could write to the guardians and dumber rationalists out there an essay on how they have no idea how my type functions in the slightest, but it's easier for me to just say
you're fucking wrong.
The writing is going to slow down a lot from here on out. I've got a few other minor things I'm working on at the moment but honestly my head space is not really in music right now. There are several more important things I must devote my thoughts and time to and I don't know when things will come around again like they used to be. Maybe it'll stay this way forever. From now on I'd much rather have a less stressful writing process.
Artists don't really live in the same realm as most people. If they did, they'd just fail everyone including themselves anyway. Artists don't always make as much good material if they're happy, but I'd much rather be happy and I've got everything on the line and fingers crossed that this'll change soon. If fortune smiles upon me I'll be able to be happy and finish the album this year.

I've taken down the Christmas videos because since I released my temple of fiends fiddle-about thing, I realized how abysmal a couple things sounded in the mixes of all three songs. I'm actually kinda excited to get in there and fix it because the problem is something I've been trying to put my finger on for a LONG time. Now that I've more or less fixed it on the ToF lullaby, I can't even hardly listen to those songs because it drives me nuts. Even GotT had a better mix and it was months before. Anyway, it may not be perfect when I'm finished but it'll be the best I can do, and way better than what it was. I'll get to them eventually, so don't expect an ETA on when that'll be done. I want it to be done right and not have to reupload something a hundred times too.
By the way: the reason I've done this so many times is because it's really hard to hear something is wrong after listening over and over. Also, I'm teaching myself as I go -- just like I have always done -- and as an artist I have a very iterative process through which I iron out bugs more slowly but ultimately come up with a superior product.
Fair warning, this may start to sound like a good CEO letter to an angry mob of fanboys, but it's not. I write shit and you can say whatever you want and it's still what I think.
I'm pretty pissed off at the idea of writing music right now because the track I've been working off and on with has presented absolutely zero incentive or inspiration after the first 30 seconds were written. This has been an ongoing problem for a while now, and I feel no guilt admitting I struggled with this during the writing of the last three songs - Breath, Stars and Neo. I had this problem on the last three songs of Classica II as well. They almost weren't released because of it. Is it noticeable to others? I don't know, maybe. Either way, I feel like I have hit a ceiling for what I can do without knowledge of theory and in the new year I am going to do my best to get away from this damn website and the music around it to learn how to take some different approaches, because I desperately need them.
Now for the reassuring apologetic paragraph.
Most creative people suffer a form of artist's block now and then, and this goes away rather quickly most times. Mine is not only due to lack of inspiration but is a result of many circumstances, as well as I feel I have done everything I am capable of doing right now in terms of instrumentals. It's hard to keep it feeling fresh and new. It's always been hard. While working on trying to resurrect this under construction track tonight (Golden Ice) I just closed the program and said fuck it, I'm not working on this fucking song anymore.
I felt the last 3 songs I released were good enough to be put out there. I think Breath of Life represents how psychotic my mind can be at times, and Stars of the Phoenix represents the slower, heavier mood that I do not have enough of yet to add in my shelf of past material, it really excels at that. Neoflash is inspired from a sort of "techy and steampunk" video game metal sound that I've always had a deep appreciation for. When I say "good enough", I'm very picky about what I allow myself to put out there which is why I removed a lot of the bad shit (you'll notice all the covers are now gone, and the covers page on my site has been deleted).
I am very frustrated with the song I wanted to kick off 2015 with, but I haven't thrown it away or anything like that. However, I refuse to work on it in this state of mind because I have tried multiple things and none of them came even close to working. I've honestly been a little worried about the future of my music because I've never once thought about an album past Emerald Euphoria. Since the beginning, I wanted to create a sound that was my dream production with clashing electronics and guitars and fat drums. That hasn't changed.
One bit of reassuring text for you (best for last right?) is I'd like to remind you (more like myself) of December 2013, when I had just finished a very rough draft for the first Classica II song, "The Great Fox". That same month I had started what I then conceived would be the second song, "Lightning Drive". If you've been following along, you'll know Lightning Drive was nearly scrapped for something like six months until I came back and made it awesome as hell. It's one of my favorites off the album any day of the week. It took months and months of patience to finally return to that song and make it what it needed to be. If I need to release Golden Ice in fucking 2016 then I will. If I come up with something better for it before that time, then I will release it.
Anyway you can bet that Emerald Euphoria will suffer from none of these problems (I'm also gonna either learn to master it better or pay to have it done one) or it won't be released until the problems are gone. For now, I am postponing work on all projects until I have a better head-space in more ways than one. It just isn't happening at the moment and I expect more of myself.

You're probably wondering what that track is up on Current Projects and why I didn't inform you of what it was. The more likely case is that you didn't even know it was there.
I've got one more 8 bit metal track coming your way, and as the first single of 2015 it should kick things off to a roaring start. Once Wrath of the Lich King rolls out, production on Emerald Euphoria should commence. I plan to have all the song demos done by then (I currently have four out of ten), because I'm gonna need demos this time unlike before. Or I might pull a Metallica and make excuses for three years as to why it's not done. These reasons could range anywhere from making my own 3D film, playing in Antarctica, playing the national anthem for the SF Giants or even making my own pinball machine. Or making a movie that no one saw.
Yeah, so at least one of those things won't ever happen, but I hope you liked the sneak peak track list - one of those songs is a cover and another is a reworked Collection of Life track. Can you spot them?

Couple cool things happening at the moment! I've submitted a weapon design for Trove! It's a bow in the shape of the "shyster symbol" (§) and hopefully it'll be accepted so I can leave a mark on this MMO's history! It clips a little bit cause it's pretty large..but we'll see. I've never used reddit before either so hopefully those guys over there will answer and help me out if I need to fix it. It's called Shystring and is shaded with green and black.
As far as the Christmas release goes, I'm here to inform you that it will be coming out on exactly the 25th! Hard to believe that's only a week away isn't it? Now whether or not I get artwork between now and then ... I'm going to release them whether I have it or not because I've already made one in the event that I can't get something else. If I get it later, I'll reupload the video (which I may have already mentioned) with the new version. December 14, 2014I've been rewatching the last GSL season again, and I still love Artosis and Tasteless as much as ever. It makes me more excited for LotV as well, which I wanted to talk a little about.
So it seems after their Multiplayer Update from a week or two back they've obviously not got everything finalized yet, and new units may be swapped in! Protoss might get more than one new unit too (the Disruptor is sort of meh). The developers are working to encourage smaller skirmishes and reward players with micro rather than 1-a deathball moves, and this harkens back to Brood War as I mentioned in my Blizzcon post already. I honestly never thought they'd really do it, and it blew me out of the water to hear this was their philosophy moving forward. I'm very, VERY happy about this as I love to watch this game.

This is the first sentence of a paragraph. I am so psyched for the Ice Sage (obviously renamed because Ice Mage is too mainstream) coming to Trove. There's about a hundred rumors going around about which day the patch will hit. Some say Tuesday, some Thursday. Personally, I only heard Dec the 16th. The 16th may or may not also be one of the days listed above. It's basically a Fae Trickster that isn't annoying as shit to play, since it doesn't require you to spawn clones CONSTANTLY to be able to deal damage. Everyone claims Faes are the most overpowered class, and yet I find them to be the absolute least enjoyable of the good classes. I know they can solo Shadow Arenas but honestly I'd rather watch paint dry. Anyway, Ice Sages will be able to chill enemies (new CC mechanic) and also FREEZE them. Freezing postpones all damage dealt until the end of the duration, and then multiplies the damage dealt for a fraction of extra damage, which is just insanely awesome. They have a shield that absorbs attacks, can walk on ice without slipping, among other really fun things. Also, THEIR COSTUMES ARE SEXY AS HELL. I will be getting the Black Ice costume for sure.
Oh, you expected a music update? Well sorry, because YOU'RE NOT WAITING ON ME FOR NEW MATERIAL!!!! I have four songs ready to release for the special, and as usual I'm being held back by somebody else. Extroverted artisans are really annoying. You can't hardly depend on them at all. If it comes down to it I'll just say fuck it and release them all and if I get the artwork I'll reupload it with the new cover. Sorry for the delay.

What fun would it be to check this site if things didn't always go according to plan? I lied about the next update because I've started another new song (?!?!), currently codenamed Jess. I can't say too much about this one, and whether it will make the Christmas Special is up in the air at this point. However it could be really great and I'm already excited about the possibilities. As always stay tuned for more junk from me -- IF production moves along at the speed of the writing then I'll update the current projects to reflect the circumstances.
I'm also gonna put down some thoughts about a new F2P MMO - Trove - as I've been playing it for many many hours already. It's a really amazing game and it's still in open beta. It has a small dev team which worries me since they've got more great ideas to implement than they can realistically finish, but they're still doing pretty well and will get a bigger team in the new year. At the moment, they're about to announce the Ice Mage class - which fits quite thematically with the month we've journeyed into rather recently. I'm very happy about this because up until now, we didn't really have a core wizard archetype. The Dracolyte is as close as it gets, and Fae Tricksters aren't exactly a caster -- they're far too weird and dependent on twitch reflexes. I love focusing on fire, ice, lightning, holy, poison, those sorts of specialized elements in RPGs, so this game can only get better now that we have a mage on the way!
November 30, 2014All right! So the NEXT update will be the Christmas Special Release, at which point all three of the new songs will be uploaded at the same time! Right now the only thing standing in the way is artwork and this is something I'm working on, without rushing it of course. All three songs are otherwise ready to go and I'm pretty satisfied with ending the year on these three songs.
I'm allowed to talk shit about my own songs because they're mine, and I'd just like to point out that the quality has come a long way since last year -- even the early parts of 2014 too. I'm very proud of that and you can bet the next album is going to be dripping with awesomeness as a result (I won't release it until it is).

So this has been the best Thanksgiving I've ever had in my entire life and I'll never forget it likely. I probably have a little more motivation to work on the tracks now after that, and I'm also here to bless them with real names :)

Passing by to say that while I've been breaking from Choir I have started another new single - T2.
If your memory extends beyond three days, you'll notice right below this news post that there's actually another one, and in it there's talks of a jam I recently made and released onto youtube. The part about showing off something in a new song is this one - T2.
If you compare Pixel Jam to Garden of the Tempest you'll notice there's a pretty big difference even though they use similar sounds (though the production quality on Tempest is vastly superior). I intend to give this new song the same kind of level-up factor again, but I'd like to stress it will not correlate with the other new polished justice songs. However it will share the same style of clashing 8 bit squares and guitars. That is a nice unique sound that I just basically dreamed up one day and it works quite well.
November 20, 2014There may not be much detailed news from me since there is a lot going on at the moment. However progress is coming along on the new project and I've got big plans for this single. I'll probably release "Choir" and "Rifle" at the same time. Between now and then you'll notice I've uploaded a few jams. The most recent one is a Frayed Ends Jam which showcases some new sounds (the guitars are fucking roaring) and the drums are noticeably more powerful than ever before.
And you can bet your ass I'm going to show it off in a new song.
Anyway, everything's sounding great right now and I feel a little more free to do whatever the hell I want now that Classica II is out on the interwebs. More new stuff is on the way, and as always watch this spot and my channel for when it gets here.

November 8, 2014I need to make more red posts. I've decided to start doing that recently, starting with Blizzcon since I'm liking a majority of what has been revealed, so I'm going to use this space to rant about all the game stuff for a while too. If it's too long for you, welcome to a crappy generation that has no attention span. Also, I'm going to rant about it anyway. As the top of the page says, this is a music and games site.
So every moron on the planet has already run to each game's respective forums and begun the shitstorm of bitching, since change in video games is clearly the most important thing to worry about in life. I'm actually very optimistic, but something I've been thinking lately is you really shouldn't be allowed to post on the internet until you're 13 or older. Even that would still be frustrating but it'd be better. I'd also be breaking that rule, but it needs to happen sometime. It'll come down to PR and sales one of these days for big companies, and something will happen to silence all the slinging of negativity in chat and forum boards, just you watch.
Anyway, we got to see Overwatch! A friend of mine accurately pointed out that the intro cinematic harkens to that of a Pixar film - not a bad thing, certainly interesting. It is a NEW Blizzard title - not based on Starcraft, Warcraft or Diablo at all...and it's been a long time since we got something like this from Blizz. Overwatch is a first person, 6v6 team shooter with an all new cast of characters that we've never seen before. I also highly suspect many assets and story bits were used from the remnants of "Titan". If that's the case, you can't really tell (everything is nice and polished looking - lovely graphics) and there are plenty of new characters for everyone to latch onto. The gameplay looks nice, and there's even going to be a healer role! This excites me of course, for those of you who don't know I love to play the healing role in games.
As for Starcraft, we all knew Legacy of the Void would be announced yesterday. Firstly, the visuals for the campaign are really great, and the new features are very exciting to say the least. To name a few things that have changed, we're going to be getting automated tournaments (remember Warcraft III?) which will help improve the spirit of competition for those of you who have no chance at getting in Code S in one or more lifetimes (like me). The next new multiplayer feature is Archon Mode, which allows two players to share a base while facing off against two other players doing the same. The "archon" theme is a great idea and is sure to improve the social atmosphere and be great for friends playing together. It almost makes me want to buy this expansion, which brings me to the point that it is not an expansion. It is a standalone game. I'm not sure what all this means yet, but we'll find out sooner rather than later I'm sure. Lastly for multiplayer is new economy, new units and redesigned old units. They've really outdone themselves this time, and while I'm sure things will change a bit by the end of beta it'll still be good. If you're a fan, you might recall Heart of the Swarm's beta completely changing everything that was announced at Blizzcon 2012. Anyway, the new economy setup is broken down like this: more starting workers (double), less minerals at each base, and lots more expansions more quickly! This is exciting as hell, and it will move things out of the early game much much faster. They've added a few new touches to existing units for all three races, and I'm pretty excited to see how all of them play out because some of them are very interesting and decisively unorthodox, coming from the most conservative design team I've ever seen. Protoss (my favorite race) only got one new unit, and I'm going to have to see it in action to know what I think about it, but all the new units have potential. They've focused on making micro far more important in this expansion, and LotV's new competitive atmosphere will remind many players of the old days back in Brood War. This is a step in the right direction for sure, and anyone with a brain is excited.
There's also a new Hearthstone expansion called Goblins vs. Gnomes with a mechanical, volatile and random theme to the new cards. Honestly I'm terrible at card games and despise RNG being the cause of my defeat, so I really don't pay much attention to this game. Though I am sure the new cards will shake up the esports scene quite a bit, and I think a lot of players were wanting something new and should be happy with this.

Popping in today with two bits of news! As the *SKIES DARKEN* with the approach of the massive task of starting Emerald Euphoria, there are two new tracks on the horizon. One of them I have just uploaded. It's a shitty soundcheck basically, but it's also something awesome too: a jam of In Amber Clad from Halo 2. I cleverly titled mine Injustice Clad *rolls eyes*
Horrifying creativity aside, that was my absolute favorite track from that game so I decided to whip up something kinda interesting in half an hour. It's not meant to be serious, just something I decided to do for fun.
Anyway, The Girl with a Silver Rifle should see a youtube release sooner rather than later, it's going to be time to do some artwork here before too long. I'm pretty excited about that.

October 12, 2014This year has flown by, but it hasn't gone by fast enough and it's not over yet. So, here we are a few weeks after my last update - and I've got some news for you!
Amidst fine tuning the mix for the next single release and the ongoing artwork process, I did something today I didn't exactly mean to do...but since it's such a huge milestone I'll go ahead and mention it. Today marks the start of writing for Emerald Euphoria, my second original album.
Now, keep the following in mind! I stated something similar for Classica II way back last year around this time, but the first track wasn't completed until December, and here we are in 2014 STILL without a complete album! Read on however, and I will leave you with one more nice little bit of information.
I currently have written plans for seven of the songs on this album. Each of them have working titles, too. Emerald Euphoria will render a sharp, percussive and huge sound that is both memorable and beautiful, aggressive and tactful. None of the songs are close to done, and I've still got one more song to do for Classica II. Then I will do a final tuning pass for each mix, and release the long awaited sequel to Classica!
After the release of Classica II and The Girl with a Silver Rifle, I will begin to post more updates on "the green album" as it comes along. The writing process will be much longer this time around, and there will be more songs with lyrical content as well. So while there may be less frequent updates, there is plenty of work cut out for me and they'll be on their way in time.
September 25, 2014 - Xtra Shyster
1) One more update for The Girl with a Silver Rifle...a good friend of mine will be helping me create the cover art for this song, since I am nowhere near considered an artist with pencil and sketchpad. She's helping me create a physical version of the symbol this song is based on. I'm excited as shit and I can't wait to show off the song and the cover soon!
2) I originally wrote about Emerald Euphoria (my 4th total and 2nd original album) coming out this year...HA. That's a laugh. Yeah, that won't happen until 2015 at the earliest. Also, I may have written about this prior but I'll go ahead and clarify that Headlong Into Misery disappeared from the list of current projects because I'm adding it to the tracklist for EE. I recently made a demo of my guitar sound for this record and re-revisited my riff collection too. Everything's sounding pretty good as I've chosen only the cream of the crop. I still plan on some fat new production and some techno/dance feel to the heaviness as well. Don't get scared on me here, I wouldn't steer you wrong - it'll be good!
3) As I said previously for Classica II, the release will happen sometime this year, and that is CERTAIN. I'm gonna do a final listen after everything is done and then finally send it off to the world of youtube. I think I announced this project back in October...this idea's been in the works for a long time now and it's finally almost done!

September 23, 2014Phew....another update! Not only are 8 out of 9 songs finished on Classica II, but I am revealing a "secret" project that is now officially in the works! I decided against doing a three part version of Lonely Path Symphony, even though I posted I'd give it a try. What ended up happening was something very interesting though. I used the left overs to start on something very different from ALL of my previous work ---
This song is about a symbol in an enormously long dream I had months ago. All objects in dreams are symbolic of something, and this symbol was a girl who carried an unnaturally long silver rifle, and bestowed an aura of mystery, purity and justice. She appeared multiple times and I can still see her image clearly in my mind.
I am going to try and capture the feeling and atmosphere of parts of this dream in this song, and the title will be The Girl with a Silver Rifle. This will be a single, so it will get here sooner than Classica II to hold you over. :)
September 22, 2014Lots of updates recently...here's another big one from the cave: the 9th and final track has been decided. Here's the breakdown:
For a long time I had a much larger list of potential songs I could try and recreate in my Classica II sound. For those who haven't heard yet (which is the case for most people) it's quite interesting and as with my previous two albums sounds unique and independent of other releases.
The idea eventually came to me that I should create a smaller number of songs to better focus on them as individuals. It's allowed me to spend more time polishing them as they collect dust waiting on my slow ass to finish writing them are lined up for the final release.
If you have any retention of the last few months worth of updates (I don't, so I'd be surprised if you did) you would know that I wrote about my plans to adapt a Donkey Kong song or two for one of the tracks. I decided against this because I felt this album already has a lot of what I would consider adding to those songs, and so instead the ninth and final track will be something more melancholy - Aeris' theme from FFVII. The track title will be Blessings Unsaid, and it's going to be hard to do such a pretty song justice!
One final note? I'm finished working on Darkmoon Ensemble! I'll probably tread carefully and slowly with the final track. I often find that when I write lots of music in a short stretch that it carries an energy or air to it that is different from something I did (even for the same project) months ago, so spacing these out has actually been beneficial for creating varied sounds on the same album. Anyway, thanks for sticking around -- the full release will happen by the end of this year for sure!
September 20, 2014Ah yes...I knew it had come back to me. There's a reason I take so damn long sometimes. I could feel the inspiration returning several days back now. I was patient and allowed it to flow naturally, and here I am writing another new song for Classica II, the long awaited Darkmoon Inn, renamed Darkmoon Ensemble! It's sounding wonderful so far and is indeed a proper tribute to the legacy of World of Warcraft.
September 19, 2014Alright then, so it's been a while since I wrote anything! That's because I've been doing other things. I don't get enough regular time away from the music just yet, and with the epic expansion Wrath of the Lich King inbound, I've been admittedly distracted from writing. So sometimes my subconscious has had enough of writing for a while, and I take a break without realizing it. Today however I'm throwing out a *small little update*...Serenade will be finished soon, and will also feature something special the other tracks don't have. :)
I was really worried when starting this one cause it didn't hit the ground running very well...more like both legs were shattered and face planted into the concrete.
However, that ridiculous phase is now over and I've got a nice and glossy foundation on which to finish the rest of the writing process. I'd say it's about halfway written, because I didn't get to add much original composition to Tribes of the Ages or The Lifelong Future. On those particular songs I edited small little nuance things that aren't much in terms of originality, but they do add a color to each of their parts so I thought it was good like it was. For this song however (Serenade) I want to return to the regular setup because it is ripe for expanding upon, as there were many themes to choose from in the first place. I'll have a lot of ability to create something interesting that contrasts with what already exists.
August 29, 2014Hey guys, so yesterday I fucked up the mix file for Garden of the Tempest when I was trying to improve some overall clarity in the sound and reupload it. I accidentally saved my bad changes/experimentation and this morning I woke up knowing I had a duty to correct my mistakes. Now it sounds even better than it did yesterday, and I will be uploading the new mix again. I'm pretty happy with that, cause after listening to it these past few weeks I KNEW I could squeeze a better mix out of what I had. It'll be uploaded soon, movie files take a while to save. >_> (and Youtube never makes anything easy)
In other news I've got a list of things to keep working on for "Serenade" but I have nothing nailed down yet. I'm still guessing this album will have a single digit number of tracks, and I want to get it out by the end of this year. Working on new stuff has been slow for me recently, though. Some of my ideas didn't translate as good as others, but one thing I can tell you is that Serenade and Darkmoon Inn will make the tracklist, so we'll have at least 8 tracks to look forward to. :)

Before I mention Classica II I want to first say I'd forgotten to post about some redoing of the artwork. If you ever saw the old one, it's much better now and I've worked on some other new artwork as well. You might not see it for a while but there it is. :)
Now, progress has been rather slow for a while, and there are a couple of things I want to make note of for the mean time. The next Classica II track has been started and I need to buckle down and continue working on it soon. As for the symphony stuff I mentioned previously, I think it's a great idea that requires more inspiration than I currently have so I will get to it as the moment permits me to do so.

The last week has been the hardest of my life, and I am putting all projects on hold while I deal with relationship struggles - trying to save a life potentially, and also try to pull some things together around here. I don't know what is going to happen, or when I will get back to writing. Unfortunately I do not have a choice in the matter and there are some things I must do. I don't have a reassuring footnote to add to this post right now, only that I'm being honest about the situation. Hopefully I will find my way back eventually. July 14, 2014ALRIGHT, so I've got a couple updates to post here. Good shit this time, for real.
First, I'll probably register this stupid domain name at some point so I can migrate somewhere else instead of this HORRID webhost. You wouldn't believe the kind of junk these guys send to my email. I can't wait to change it to a more simple layout, too. That'd be nice because I hate the websites of today which involve giant buttons (like phones, right?) and huge pictures that hide all the real navbars and information, which is what you're here for. The music is all on youtube so if you want that, you go there and if you want to read my rants and shit, you come here. Simple, no?
Anyway, I'm not sure when I'll get around to doing this, it'll eventually happen though.
Last but not least, "Long Pixel" is done! I worked on this thing for two solid weeks non-stop, and its title is Garden of the Tempest!!! This thing is a beauty, I'm very happy with it...it is by far the best sounding thing I have written to date. I'll be uploading it to youtube soon once I finish going through the final tuning pass with it. I'll probably break for a few days (much needed) before I resume work on Classica II. At that point I'll decide which of those three tracks I want to start on, and I'll post back on here. See you then.

The last couple days were spent remixing and re-tweaking and re-re-re-revisiting some of the other Classica II tracks. I think I've finally gotten them all in line with each other, so each step taken from here on is a step forward!

This is a big and crucial update. Please read it in its entirety.
I am removing some more singles entirely from my channel, and I might be sanctioning off the first two albums, too. Why am I doing all this? Well my sound has come a ways since two years ago and since Classica I/Collection of Life as well. That being said, I'm not happy with the production level of what came out prior to some of the songs this year. It just isn't my best and regardless of how well written it is, it doesn't sound good enough. A producer can make or break a band as they say. At this very moment and lately, I've been struggling to maintain inspiration, despite coming up with a nice addition or two for Classica II and a few handpicked good singles.
This inspiration issue seems to be a direct result of circumstances in my life right now, and if things work out sooner rather than later I hope to get a majority of the music situation on the right track or resolved completely. Without going into much detail, it has been difficult to maintain a creative head space whilst dealing with way too many other simultaneous issues.
What I can tell you is that Classica II will be finished, you have my word. While I have no immediate plans for the next track, I have three more ideas for songs on this album - Donkey Kong, Heroes of Might and Magic, and World of Warcraft. That'll bring us to nine total tracks, which is shorter by far, but they'll be much more concise and better executed in all ways. That is what I want, especially so because of the issue of lacking production on previous releases. Also, having a shorter album isn't a result of my lack of inspiration, I planned this over six months ago for the aforementioned reasons, so don't worry about that.
I have taken some time to streamline a few pages on the website due to the changes listed above. Moving forward I want to have a better catalog than what mostly resulted from 2012-2013. I'm nowhere near perfect at mixing and writing and I am glad -- that gives me plenty to improve upon.
One last thing is this website is really pissing me off but getting a new one is complicated for me right now. For now I am stuck with this one and I wish that wasn't the case. I spent hours today trying to formulate a plan to start anew, but it's simply too much work right now and an overwhelming amount of editing existing content. Maybe some day.
June 15, 2014Typing up another quick update for Lightning Drive, the work has finally begun and I'm actually working on it as I write this entry! So far everything's sounding much better, this has been worth the six-seven month wait! It will be finished soon, because I have some good momentum and confidence right now. This is AWESOME.
June 13, 2014Quickly stopping by to say that I am taking down a couple of tracks from my channel...they were impulsive and not very good...I am not proud of the impulse I acted on and I do not listen to them anymore because they are not up to snuff with the rest of the songs. Metall and Ride the Lightning will come down in just a few moments. I highly doubt anyone will lose sleep over it...except for myself if I hadn't removed something I felt was vastly inferior.
June 12, 2014Alright, so after some trimming I have finished The Lifelong Future :) and I would like to write about my thought process for moving forward with Lightning Drive.
Since the mix on this "Lightning" file is pretty bad (haven't touched it since December) I am probably going to start from scratch and improve like a million things on it. I got off on a bad foot for this song based on the *method* I chose to begin. I'd like to point out that I lost all motivation to work on this song for half a year because of it. Now that what I did back then has worn off, I'd like to make this one rock really hard because I KNOW it has potential, just like everything that has come before it.
Anyway, that's it for this update, I've got some stuff on my phone that I want to try and squeeze into this next one, and I've got a Donkey Kong Country themed mix next on the list! I am also taking Darkmoon Inn off the list of projects until I start actually working on it. :)
May 29, 2014I've decided to cancel Dark Matter and do something DIFFERENT for that game. If you didn't know, Dark Matter was a remix+original content track for Final Fantasy IV. However, a lot of new shit has taken its role...so today when I got some new inspiration for a different side of FFIV, I charged full steam ahead.
I can tell you now this track is going to be what I'd call the "breather" of the album, or at least one of them. If you remember on Classica, there were several shorter tracks that broke up the action a little. That's more or less what this one's going to do...and it is very atmospheric and nice.
The working title for this newest track is The Lifelong Future.
Also, since I've put off Lightning Drive since around December, I may take the idea and redo the starting mix in a different file and get rid of the old one. I have an idea or two for it on my phone, but it's somehow evaded me for the longest time. I'd really like to fix that because it has good potential. If it isn't mentioned in this post, all other projects are currently on standby.
May 20, 2014Tribes of the Ages is finished! BAM that was fast. I also spent a lot of time working on the masters for some of the other finished songs (The Great Fox really needed it), and it reminds me of why I was happy I made the decision to release these tracks in bulk this time around. I will do the same thing for Emerald Euphoria when that time comes, too. It's also worth noting that the track order is starting to take a bit of shape...those types of things bug me when I'm uncertain.
I'm actually not sure what my next project will be...I might keep working on Classica II since I have some good momentum right now. I will post some more news once I am further along in that thought process.
May 19, 2014I've begun work on Classica II again, this time on a new track I've been planning for a week or two. It's for Age of Empires, entitled Tribes of the Ages! I'm loving it already, and this one has been a lot easier so far for some reason.
Anyways, it is sounding really cool...translating a bagpipe to 8 bit and heavy sounds is pretty awesome!!
May 16, 2014I am SO happy right now...for the first time EVER, Metallica's going to play The Frayed Ends of Sanity due to the overwhelming support for it in Finland! Their request tour gave ticket holders the ability to vote songs into the setlist, and over 40% of the people going have voted this song. That is so awesome! This song is 26 years old, and now we will finally have heard live every single song from their 80s catalog.
It had better be good, they better practice it. Super pumped because we've never heard the solo played live, never heard the epic drum fill live, or anything beyond a minute or two max in a single performance. Unless I am somehow mistaken, voting closes today the 16th, and Helsinki, Finland has shown enormous promise for rarities! HELLYEAH, you guys kick ass.

Work has resumed on Headlong into Misery, and so far so good! There's still a bit more to the writing process, I just haven't started finishing the last third of the song yet. However, I've got a demo guitar in there now and I'm liking what I hear. I was going to do this song in quartertone above standard tuning but it's difficult enough for my vocal "range" without making it complicated. It'll sound good anyway, no worries :)

Things are moving along! I've started some vocal tracks for Headlong into Misery, and I've finished mixing "J8", which now has a name: Pixel Jam! I will upload it soon because I need to hear it again after I've had some sleep first. I worked my ass off on this song into the night today, and it's pretty awesome...I just need to not listen to it for a while >.>
One last thing: I separated singles from covers on the right side of this page to be more clear, and while on the subject -- I'm thinking about doing another cover soon. If it doesn't happen, it is highly likely that I will start tackling Classica II once again.

I've fleshed out some more of Headlong into Misery today. Working on the chorus at this very moment of writing. It's in much better shape than it was a week ago, not that it was in bad shape but this is nice.

April 17, 2014 - NEW STUFF!I'm taking a break from working on Classica II and "J8" since I'm having issues getting the guitars to sit, these two different themes are so wildly different from each other. Don't say I didn't warn you, "J8" might not have guitars in it, at least not in a traditional sense.
One more quick thing, I got rid of the artwork page. If you want the artwork it's all on youtube, it's just a pain in the ass to mess with on this site and I got tired of that. I changed the homepage music for a while too.
That's not what I came to tell you though! I'm working on a new song with vocals! Every time I write new lyrics, something good has happened. I'm also more confident on the title this time - this song will be called Headlong into Misery.
One small, relatively unimportant footnote is I'm considering trashing the "MOPDM" idea since I have not had any inspiration in three months to work on this one. Nothing's final yet, though I am posting this for now just in case.
April 9, 2014 (4/11 Update)
Honestly I haven't felt like making shit in the past month or so, and Diablo 3 Reaper of Souls just came out so I've been playing it non-stop more or less. Every time I try and work on "MOPDM" I just get pissed off since I can't satisfy my perfectionism enough to put down some solid riffs. However, I came up with a new idea and I have a progress demo for it made already.
This new project is called J8. I changed it to a codename that means nothing for now, but I've got several title ideas and I'll decide on the final name later. Anyway for this song I'm merging justice tones with 8 bit chiptune music! I thought I'd be done with justice for a while but this was a pretty awesome idea and unless something horribly bad happens I will probably keep the guitars in too. I'm excited :)
4/11 Update: Clarified title and info, also worked on this track for the second time. Things are starting to shape up a lot more, still writing the parts.

I have renamed the new single to The Sight Unseen, and it is in the final phase of production! It will be uploaded shortly thereafter...and I think this is the best sounding song yet and features vocals and a lot of my own style and STUFF. From start to finish it's quite a ride and it's my second longest song too (it doesn't feel that long though) :)

Striker Trek is finished. It's really good, and helps demonstrate that the sonic range will be a bit more variant on this album -- certainly more than the original Classica. I'm still working on Blind and Deaf while all this stuff is happening, and I'm not sure what I'll commit to next.
However if you look to the right side of the page you'll see I've got my work cut out for me, there's plenty of options so that's a good thing. :)

In light of recent events some new lyrics have been written and there are some great new melodies floating around them. In about 3 hours worth of work it is already very nice. It will be a new single called Blind and Deaf. I'm also going to be improving the method through which all these tracks are mixed/mastered, which is a long time coming.
March 10 Update: I've got some Classica II news! I've got plans for two new tracks...neither of which I'd previously planned at all. That's always a really exciting thing. One is for Final Fantasy VI called Striker Trek, and it's already sounding truly KILLER. The second is for World of Warcraft. I didn't get to do much for this particular game (it has one of the greatest soundtracks ever!) on the first Classica album, because I wanted to do a lot of music from the strategy games. This time it'll be WoW-centric though for sure, and it will be called Darkmoon Inn. I'll let you guess the associated themes. :)
P.S. The site's been acting up a ton recently, it's not my fault. That's what happens when you expect a free webhost to be any good, who offers sales every month for the same shit ass product, with no bugs ever patched.
February 23, 2014What happened to Classica II? Nothing BRAH. It's still in production, and today I have a bit of news for you!
A new track called Spark Charge has been finished for the album. After working on refining the production and some other new shit I'm super excited to get this stuff rolling again...I think the break from working on this album was worth it.
February 19, 2014Today I decided to remaster Zodiac from Collection of Life. Some of the more auditory nerds will notice the production shift about halfway through this album. Although I'm mostly fine with that, I decided Zodiac's atmosphere could be much improved with just a few slight adjustments.
Although it took all day and I screwed a bunch of shit up, the new version has replaced the old on youtube now. I didn't blow up the EQ or anything, it's just a lot smoother and all.
And just because I'm going back to older shit doesn't mean I don't have newer things on the radar...I'm going to resume work on Classica II soon, and Emerald Euphoria will come after that. There's also a new metal single brewing. It will be Metallica-themed, but in a new way. Instead of the justice era, it will focus on three different ones: Master of Puppets, the Black Album and Death Magnetic. Putting these three together has been time consuming but it will be fun once I've finished writing.
P.S. For anyone who's curious, I can't imagine Emerald Euphoria being finished before Christmas this year. For my sake and yours, please don't count on anything before then. In fact do me a favor and don't ask until 2015 because there remains much to be done before that album starts. This is a good thing though so don't worry.

Spent a week on this one, and I am quite proud of it now that it's done. I was afraid of messing it up after doing some good work on it but I pulled through with no worries at all. Lonely Path of the Sword is an epic instrumental featuring a more symphonic atmosphere, adding progressive and orchestral elements into the mix. It's the first real inspiration I've had this month, and it's nice to have this one done.
January 21, 2014This is the longest it's been thus far without an update, I haven't worked on anything since the past two releases. Given that I haven't started publicizing the two albums and tons of singles yet I don't know that's a bad thing, but I haven't felt particularly inspired lately. As with Collection of Life, if I didn't feel inspired I didn't force myself to write until the inspiration came to me. That is how the entire album was finished.
So instead of forcing something, I've spent more time listening to new music and improving as a musician instead of writing all the damn time. I don't have any exciting updates to provide at this time, but I'll leave you with this:
I have a couple ideas for possible new covers/singles, but nothing is final or even started on yet. I made notes about them but I knew I didn't want to force myself to start working on something. New material will be ready when it's ready, as always.
January 23 Update: A new song has begun, but it will take a while...this epic will be titled Lonely Path of the Sword.
January 2, 2014Kicking off the new year with NEW SHIT. The Eisbrecher cover Metall is finished, and is COMPLETE WITH VOCALS! My new original, Punch the Galaxy is also finished, and both have been uploaded already. I'm happy with both of these new ones and it is refreshing to have some new sounds out and about.
Lastly I want to dedicate these two songs to a certain someone - who will know who they are upon reading this - after the past few days. Thank you for everything...you help keep these songs coming and give me the fire to write more.
December 30, 2013I've been sick the past few days for the first time in years, but I have done something awesome. Several things, in fact. Firstly, I fired out a surprise new single called Punch the Galaxy that will be finished soon, I'm taking extra time away from it to listen to it again once I'm not ill. It's pretty laid back and not caring too much in its attitude, but catchy as hell. That's kinda how I've felt with my zero energy! It's also nice to mix in with a lot of my more serious tones and structure on previous tracks.
Anyway, I was already excited about the sounds I've got for Classica II, but today fortune smiled upon me and I was able to get my hands on some more really nice stuff for this album.
A small footnote is that a couple weeks ago I forgot to mention when I got some really nice guitar gear for Emerald Euphoria down the road, and it sounds AWESOME. I can't wait to put it to the test.
December 24, 2013Well I finally finished my newly polished version of Six Months Today. Even though it won't be uploaded for a while (wink) it sounds a lot better and I'm as happy as I'll be with it. The vocals were done quickly because that's how it had to be, and given the amount of time I had I'd say it is pretty good.
I haven't started vocals for my Eis cover yet, and I've been breaking from Classica II recently, but there'll be more information to come soon enough.
December 22, 2013This might be something of a Christmas special...
So I woke up a night or two ago (I can't remember anything) and I had the idea of covering one of my favorite bands...Eisbrecher! If you don't know who they are, then welcome to the world of industrial, dance and techno metal!
For those of you who have been around a long time, you probably already know that I've already done a cover of this band. The only problem is that it was really bad by anyone's standards and what I've decided to do (after nine hours of slaving at the computer) is make a cover and do it properly.
It's a cover of their song Metall (nice name, right?), and if I can make it work, I will add vocals too (they'll be in German!). At this moment everything else on the song is done, so in between now and when I get the vocals in there I'll be working on other small details for this track.

Important update for Firemind! I'm rearranging that
page so that I can have a news column for Firemind too! This way the
music and gaming updates can coexist and you won't be confused looking through music updates for Firemind updates. Once I shift into the next phase of development, I'll likely be working on music and Firemind a bit more equally. This will be awesome for that purpose and you can check out news on whichever one you like. :)
Now for the music...well, today was one of those days where I open up my tools for Classica II, and my settings are all fucked up. But after spending an hour+ fixing them, I'm happy to say that a lot of good came out of it. :) For one I made a lot of technical and auditory improvements to my master file, from which each monster on this album shall rage forth. This should've been done already but it's done now.
The part you want to hear is that I've added some work to Lightning Drive, and I feel much more confident about this one's direction now. I'm also starting on another Classica II song...entitled Dark Matter! Both of them still have a long ways to go, but I can tell you from what is done, it's going to be awesome.
I haven't been working as feverishly on music recently. I'm currently in that opposite phase where I spend less total time on projects, but the end result of what time IS spent, is still very good. Stay tuned for updates as always~
December 10, 2013The Great Fox is now in the mixing stage, and it is ONE HELL OF A TITLE TRACK
If every track comes out this good for this album, I'll be plenty happy until the big cannons come out for Emerald Euphoria (there's a reason I won't be starting that one yet -- until Classica II is finished).
The benefits of releasing this album as an.......album...is that I have more time to go back and second guess myself if my perfectionist side clocks in one afternoon or another. It also gives me more time to order the tracks, instead of just writing them in the order they appear (haven't had any issues with that historically though).
So anyways I'm now trying to make sure everything sounds just right and I'll be picking the next song...from three different ideas I have my eye on for the title of *NEXT ON THE LIST*. It's tough because I want to do them all at once but I'll get there eventually right?!!11

December 4, 2013Some people are incompetent. Therefore, the Fight Fire With Fire cover isn't going to see the light of day. I was going to contribute vocals and a solo to that project, but I got tired of being strung along a line of bullshit for several months waiting on somebody to feel like recording. It seems like all the musicians I've run into have the same problem: lots of talent, and a total lack of ambition and restraint or focus. Maybe I'll do this cover myself in the future, but for now it's in the dust. Sorry, it wasn't my idea to begin with, which is kind of ironic but whatever.
Anyway, I want to add a small Classica II update to this frustrating post...
Today marks the first day of production!!!!!!!! I've been spending most of today putting together the new sound for this album, and I've been working further on the songs I'd like to include. The list is getting a lot more awesome, diverse and concrete each time I look at it, so that's a good thing. This new sound will be quite different compared to my previous albums...so far it kicks ass and I'm excited. If you liked Classica you ought to be excited too.
P.S. Don't worry, you can always count on me to ACTUALLY FINISH my large scale projects like Classica II and Emerald Euphoria. Many more will follow, without a doubt.
December 1, 2013Enter another shyster-sized update. Yes I jacked with the site again. I like how the navbar is under the banner now, among other stuff I improved.
So yeah, you don't care about that. Where's the damn music updates? Well I DO in fact have an update. Since I announced Classica II, I've done absolutely nothing sonically towards starting it. However I've been culminating ideas ever since, and today I had a really awesome one. I've been pondering how to alter the sound of this album in a satisfying way, and the idea I had today goes back to the root of the word: Classic.
In short, I'll be trying to recreate some more 80s video game sounds on this record, that I've never attempted before and it'll keep things fresh. I'm really excited about this prospect because there's multiple ways to do it and I want to try everything.
I'd like to reiterate something again though guys. Just like Emerald Euphoria, this album's tracks WILL NOT BE RELEASED ON AN INDIVIDUAL BASIS. That doesn't mean I won't be updating the Current Projects and news articles with information about them as they get finished though. No worries, I like coming up with these ideas as much as I do posting to whoever my audience is about them.
One small footnote for Firemind as well. I'm currently deciding some evil story stuff. I can't spoil anything, but it's evil...

This is going to be a rather lengthy update! I have a couple important notes I wanna make on here.
First thing you'll notice is the Current Projects is on the right panel now. The design of this site is in constant iteration, mainly because I feel like it but also because, unless you've used this website designer, you have NO IDEA how hard it is to use. It's extremely buggy and always keeps you guessing what it's going to do versus what it says.
Anyway, let's start off with the single I entitled "Horror of Norms". That is now being postponed until
it can be released on an album. I know that may seem odd that I've
"cancelled" two projects, and since I don't want anything going around
about that I'll clarify a little bit real quick.
So I'm saving up a group of my absolute best riffs and I'll be using them together. I don't want to separate them as I've done before. Don't worry though, I think all the original singles are fine except for one, which I'll cover further down this post.
Another thing is the Blackened cover idea was a bit impulsive on my part and I quickly realized this about a day into the process. I decided to stop where it was, instead of making a mistake and releasing something that I would inevitably have technical difficulties with. I had trouble satisfying myself with the quality of the song right from the beginning, and so I decided the two covers I did previously were enough.
Now about that single I'm not happy with: Six Months Today was started (not finished, but started) before my sound for Collection of Life was refined and ready to go. And just to give you an idea of how THAT process works, historically I'm only finished iterating on the sound halfway through writing an album, so you can see pretty easily how it stands out in terms of production. If I'm being completely honest with myself, I'd like to go back and improve virtually everything about the song (except the lyrics), and then there will just be the old "raw" version that we have now. This is the only song I have that feeling with and it's important to me that it holds up to the rest of my work.
The good news is I've made a list of things I am going to do to make it sound better and more musically accurate, and fill it out a lot better. It's one of those things you have to do sometimes since you've listened to your project hundreds of times and you don't know what's wrong with it anymore. I'm pretty stoked once everything gets fixed on it, and I'll add it to the list up at the top for now.
November 18, 2013The "justice" track originally entitled Given the Name has now been released, newly named Prayer of Hatred. It won't have vocals like I originally mentioned (I never promised it would work), but it still packs a huge ass punch. It's not really a follow-up to Seether at all, but if it works better in your head that way, be my guest. This will probably be the last time I use this sound for a song, at least for a long time.
However, I'm gonna break the ice again to make mention of something new (AGAIN!).
KEEP IN MIND: This won't see the light of day until I finish Classica II, but the new endeavor has a name - Emerald Euphoria! It will be a total marriage of dance/techno with my heavy metal riffs and grooves. Collection of Life really paved the way for all of that, and I imagine it'll be finished some time in 2014.
One final important note, I will not be releasing the songs on EE until all of them have been finished. To keep up with what I'm working on you can still easily rely upon the section right above the one you're reading on the website.

Fiddling with the site again. The youtube channel link is now on the Navbar for people who can't read or for people like me who'd rather have it somewhere more useful. The music and artwork pages now both suck a lot less and I fixed the loading images problems.
11/10 Update: The Blackened synth cover has been indefinitely put on hold. However, Given the Name is close to being finished and it's basically a Seether 2.0 on steroids (and vocals).
I also finally added a new guest to the Awesome Section since I haven't even updated it since the original creation of this website. Ganon's face will greet you each and every time you visit my page, from now on.

Things are changing up a bit, for one I've been working on a couple remakes recently. There's a good reason I'm delaying the concept of another truly original album like Collection of Life. Anyway, I'm working on one more remake for Metallica, a synth instrumental version of Ride the Lightning! It'll sound similar to the way Ronnie did. Ride the Lightning actually was the second song I ever heard by that band and has my favorite guitar solo of all time.
Anyway, I really don't care if anyone likes it or not, this is just a track I wanted to do. Not that I care if someone hates on something to begin with but I just wanted to use that solo in my own version basically. If you like it, horns (synth horns?) out to you, then.

How will it be different from its predecessor? It will be all remakes instead of medleys, using a sound that has evolved from working on Collection of Life. However, each song will include a new section that stays true to the essence of each original track. It's going to be a fun ride :)
Also, the website layout and pages should suck less now, worked on that stuff again, I'm pretty happy with it at the moment.

The collaboration project is finally underway, and speaking of, I'd like to announce that Thanksgiving has come early for me this year, because I'm thankful that someone explained to me how the asshats at Google run their copyright claim garbage on youtube. So that headache is gone permanently, YES!!
In other news, I have begun work on the final track for Collection of Life. It's a really special one and it might be the best on the entire thing. The working title is now One Life for All.

Released Seether today finally! I have to say it really should have been done months ago, but I think it's as good as it's going to get, and I'm just happy to finally have it off my list of things to do. I also redid the Music page because it sucked, and the photos never loaded properly anyway. If you want the artwork (I made some new Seether artwork, too!) then they're still on the artwork page of course.

Lots of content being produced at the moment. Steamrunner is finished! I've also nearly finished track 11, entitled Reaper's Lullaby! Bliss is next, then I might work on finishing Seether, which has been mostly done for a while now. Again, if you read it here, it's probably uploaded on youtube already, and the link to my channel is always in the Introduction at the top of the page.
I will be releasing Bliss and Reaper's Lullaby at the same time, because I finished Reaper out of order, I've still got Bliss (track 10) to finish.

Last Stand is finished! I've got plans for lots more cool stuff on Collection of Life coming up. I've added all of it to the list, and some of it I've been hoping to use for a while now, it's just that it's official now. "10" is now called Steamrunner, and I started Bliss like five months ago but I still haven't finished it. But I have added to it more than once, so there's still hope.
I also worked on the site layout because it sucked. No need for a news archive now! I didn't do an *extreme makeover*, I just made it overall less annoying for someone to visit and try to figure out what the hell is going on.

My S&R cover is finished! I'll be uploading it to youtube as soon as my video is finished processing. It's pretty kickass. Multiple ass kicks, not just one. Or two. I'd say at least three. In other news, I've also added "10" to the list of tracks in line for my ongoing original album writing process.

I've got a place for Bliss at long last, and in addition I have begun work on the next new track for Collection of Life - Last Stand. I have five total projects at the moment (if you include a collaboration I am waiting for my friend on), and I'm liking bouncing back and forth between them at the moment.

I've been working on Seether occasionally. It's in the final stretch, too. The only thing is that all the parts which aren't finished are very meticulous and I want to take as much time to feel them out as possible. In other news, I have also started a new project, a "Justice" remake of a little Metallica instrumental called Suicide and Redemption! I added some new artwork for both of these songs, too. Track 6 - The Iron Price is finished, and it will be uploaded on youtube once I'm done messing with it. Getting TONS of stuff done the past couple days. The NEXT song (track 7) will be entitled Zodiac.
